TERMS AND CONDITIONS (Effective from 1 January 2025)

 

WORKING DAYS
Tuition is available between 7:00am and 9:00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I limit tuition to these core days to allow flexibility and increased availability during busy exam periods. While I may occasionally offer lessons outside of these days, I am unable to make regular bookings for other times.

 

GROUP SESSIONS

  • AQA GCSE Biology – Wednesdays, 6:15–7:15pm
  • AQA A-Level Biology – Wednesdays, 7:30–8:30pm

Charges for group lessons apply regardless of attendance. All enrolled students will receive copies of the lesson resources to enable them to catch up on any missed content.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

Lessons cancelled with less than one week’s notice are payable in full.

If you provide more than one week’s notice, up to two lessons per term may be cancelled free of charge. Any fees already paid for these will be credited towards the next invoice. Further cancellations in the same term will be charged in full.

If you anticipate a scheduling issue, please get in touch as early as possible—I will always try to rearrange the lesson rather than charge. However, if I am fully booked, alternative slots may not be available.
If I need to cancel a session for any reason, I will first try to offer an alternative time, including outside my normal working days. If this isn’t possible, the session fee will be refunded in full.
As a senior examiner, I may be unavailable on certain weeks for exam board meetings. You will receive notice of these dates well in advance, and I always aim to rearrange any affected lessons.

 

Term Dates

  • Summer 2025: 12 April – 18 July
  • Summer Break (lessons may be available on request): 19 July – 31 August
  • Autumn 2025: 1 September – 31 December

 

PREPARATION & INDEPENDENT WORK
In most cases, an hour of tuition includes around 30 minutes of preparation time, which I do not charge for. However, where a student or parent requests additional support – such as test feedback, marking mock papers, giving written feedback, or undertaking work at your request outside of scheduled lesson – I apply a preparation rate charged at 50% of my standard hourly rate. I will always advise you in advance if these fees are being applied.

 

LESSON REMINDERS
I do not send reminders ahead of scheduled lessons, as I am often teaching. However, I will send a WhatsApp message if the student hasn’t joined the Zoom call within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time.

 

TECHNICAL ISSUES
All lessons take place via Zoom.

  • If I experience a technical problem, I will either extend or reschedule the session.
  • If the student experiences technical issues, unfortunately that lesson time cannot be recovered.

 

PAYMENT TERMS
After the first session, payment is due in advance for all scheduled lessons for the upcoming calendar month. Lessons will not take place if payment has not been received.

 

WITHDRAWING FROM TUITION
My fees are reviewed annually in September. If you decide to stop tuition, please give as much notice as possible so I can offer the slot to another student on my waiting list. There are no cancellation fees, but payments already made are non-refundable.
